The final Slaven Lecture of 2022 at Blue Hill Public Library will be a discussion about current issues facing the lobster industry with Sheila and Mike Dassatt of Stonington, the executive director and secretary/treasurer of the Downeast Lobstermen’s Association respectively, on Thursday, December 8, at 7 p.m. The program is free and open to the public.
The Downeast Lobstermen’s Association (DELA) was founded in 1991 in Jonesport, and has members from Kittery to Eastport, as well as other northeastern states. DELA members participate on Lobster Zone Councils statewide, the Large Whale Take Reduction Team, and the Working Waterfront Coalition, and are seated on the Board of Directors for the Lobster Institute at the University of Maine.
